Isn’t that the goal for every young girl – How to make yourself prettier.
If you actually google this sentence, the crap that comes up is absolutely amazing and shocking at the same time. What are we trying to teach the women of the future – Pretty makes you a better person. Pretty has nothing to do with the person you are and the person everyone wants to see.
It’s just not real. None of these pictures (well most of them) are just not real. Trying to achieve a look you see in a magazine is almost impossible for the average woman (these are my favourite women)
I tried to give myself a make over using only modern technology. If was really easy actually and scary that an amateur like myself can make such a big difference to a picture. You can make yourself prettier too but covering up all your so called ‘faults’.
In the pictures below I managed to remove all my wrinkles without Botox. My skin tone was even out without any surgery or help with expensive creams. My eyes were a little brighter. The dark circles under my eyes didn’t stand out and blended into the rest of my perfect skin. My lips were a little pinker. And I did all this sitting at my computer.
I showed my children what I had done just so they could understand how fake most of the magazine pictures actually are. I don’t want my kids chasing an image that they are never going to catch.
I am proud of my wrinkles. I am proud of my blotchy skin. I am proud of my dark circles. All these traits make me the person my children love, my husband adores (yes I will repeat adores..lol) and my family & friends love to be around. I don’t need to change to fit into what society deems as pretty and I don’t want my children thinking they need to change to fit society’s mould of perfect. They are perfect just the way they are.
Have you ever altered a photo of yourself to make yourself prettier?
