Learning from amazing people
I have uncovered a secret and I am here to share this with you. I like to think of myself as kind-hearted, someone who puts the needs of others before my own. But I haven’t always been this way. Why? Not sure really but I think it has a lot to do with growth and surrounding myself with amazing people.
Ok, lets start at the very beginning. As a child, it was all about me. I was bossy. I was important. I was demanding. As a teenager I was a rebel. I never thought about the feelings of others unless it benefited me in some way. As a young adult I knew what I wanted and nothing was going to get in my way – and I mean nothing.
Through out all these years, I wore my heart on my sleeve, getting hurt a long the way, hurting others in return but never really understanding how the people around me, all these amazing people I was surrounding myself with were shaping me into the woman I would become.
I believe I am an amazing woman, one who still wears her heart on her sleeve but the hurt doesn’t seem to follow like it use to. Why? I have chosen to surround myself with amazing people who can teach me more than I know. People who teach me gratitude. People who show me kindness. People who love unconditionally. I choose these people and this shapes the way I live my life.
Recently I decided to help out with Share the Dignity, a charity who helps women who have suffered from the hands of domestic violence. I am collecting handbags filled with essentials from family and friends in the hope I can help these beautiful women get a little dignity back into their world. Well I have been blown away by the amazing people in my life. The generosity, the thoughtfulness, the kindness, the gratitude has blown me away.
Not only are these amazing people stepping up and helping out, but many of these people are struggling themselves. We all know how life gets so busy, especially this time of the year. So when I see others taking just a moment out of their lives to think of other people, even when they themselves need a little help too, I am so grateful to be part of their life. I believe have chosen well my friends.
Today I am grateful. Today I am humble. Today I am loved.
If you are reading this today and you are one of these people who are in your own struggles, I would like to thank you for being an amazing person. Thank you for teaching me to be a better a person. Thank you for celebrating life.
Have you surrounded yourself with amazing people? Who are they?
