Back to school soon – time to look at Lunch Boxes.
Let me repeat that for all the parents who are excited to have their kids BACK AT SCHOOL
Ok, now that I have that out of my system, I will get to the topic of this post – The not so old fashion Lunch box.
When your kids are in primary school, picking a lunch box is easy. There is no judgement on which lunch box a primary school child uses. You may decide on a cool colour, a Disney character, a large truck looking box or even a set of fairy wings. Nothing is off-limits and I am yet to see a young child be ostracised by the state of their lunch box.
Most parents like to choose a lunch box that can cater for ‘wrapper free’ snacks and sandwiches. Not only does it save the environment, but it also save on money.
When your child hits High School, they have an image to uphold. OK, maybe not an image, but no teenager wants to head to school looking completely out of place with the worst lunch box on the planet. So what cool stuff is around for your teenager to take to school?
Lunch Boxes for Teenage Girls
With 2 teenage girls in my house (yes please feel sorry for me because I feel sorry for myself often), we started looking at some funky colours and designs. My younger teenager – 14yrs olds) was not as experimental as she is still in the stage of:
‘I want to be different, but in the same way as everyone else’.
So she chose this one:
My older teenager was excited when I showed her a lunch box that looked like a handbag. She is in the stage of:
‘I don’t actually care what anyone thinks because I am confident with my style and I KNOW I look good’.
So she chose this one:

The perfect accessory for any teenage girl
Lunch boxes for Teenage Boys
My teenage son is only starting High School this year so he was a little more conservative about what to take to school. He is not ready to be the leader in lunch box fashion (unless everyone else is using it) and he is in the stage of:
‘I’m cool. Don’t mess with me because I am in High School cool but don’t make me stand out from anyone else cause I’m not ready for that pressure’.
So he chose this one:
My last child is still in primary school and couldn’t care less about boring things like lunch boxes. He also couldn’t care less is he wears socks to school, jocks to school, his top is dirty or he even has any lunch in his bag. Gotta love a relaxed kid. He is in the stage of:
‘Who cares! I just want to have fun with my mates’.
So he chose this one:
All of these lunch boxes are made by Smash and Nudie and available in all good retailers. We were not paid for this post, however we were given the opportunity to choose whatever products we wanted for review. We love the Smash range as they are BPA free and have the highest international food safety standard. We highly recommend looking at their range.
So show your teen some of these and see what they think.
What are you sending your kids to school with?
We are still struggling with the back packs. I can’t even think about lunch boxes yet. This going back to school can be very draining. I’m amazed I have any hair left.
Bahahaha oh I love it. This year I decided to do one task a week to get ready. Books one week. Shoes the next. Uniforms the next. Lunch boxes the last week.
My teen won’t take a lunch box (don’t ask) but I’ve actually got one for them this year, in another attempt…and it’s the one you have above (the smash one) so fingers crossed….

I really really want to ask now Lydia… LOL
What a bad mother I am! I’ve been reusing the same lunch boxes with my tween and teenage kids for a couple of years now, and also reusing my work branded logo cooler bags! No cool lunch accessory kids in this household! I did let them choose whatever drink bottle they wanted however.

Hahahaha my kids would not let me get away with it. If you keep it quiet, they will never know Ingrid.
Off to do the back to school shopping today. Better add lunch boxes to the list
Yes and shoes and stationary and drink bottle – wow they bleed you dry these kids.
My 13 year old has decided lunch boxes are passé!

Love it Amy – one less thing to worry about.
My kids have decided to keep their lunch bags from last year as they are both still in primary school and the bags are still in good condition. Next year when my son heads to high school, that may be a different matter….

That is another thing on the ‘back to school’ list you can tick off.
There are so many cool lunchboxes out now! I have to restrain myself because really there is only so many lunchboxes one kid can use lol. When I was in highschool I didn’t really eat, but when I did I had a Bratz lunchbox. I thought I was awesome lol.

I dont recall what I sed, probably a paper bag. Great lunch boxes now make lunch time more fun.
oh wow, Natalie they are cool lunchboxes for cool kids. Even as a teacher I liked choosing a new one each year. They have made them so well these days with insulation and space for freezer bricks. Cheers, Denyse

I know they are really funky now. We had so much fun looking at all the lunch boxes to choose from. I think I had more fun than the kids.
I like the green ones, too! The small rounded ones are perfect for fruits and desserts while the bigger one is for a meal or snack.
There is no excuse anymore for not being able to take whatever you want for lunch
My kids love their Smash boxes! So far, so good – they’ve been bringing them home each day too!
